Sudanese Minister of Minerals Osheik Mohamed Taher said that 17 foreign countries are investing in the minerals sector in Sudan including China, Russia, Canada and Italy.

This came during his meeting with Ambassador of Australia to Sudan Neil Hawkins.

During the meeting, the minister invited Australian companies to invest in Sudan.

He urged Australia to train Sudanese engineers, geologists and technicians in the minerals field.

Taher also pointed out that the Sudanese government is working on opening an embassy in Australia in order to attract Australian companies and investors to work in Sudan.
