Riyadh - Arabstoday

The Saudi Ports Authority (SPA) yesterday signed a number of contracts worth SR 615 million for the development of King Abdul Aziz Port in Dammam, Dhuba Port in Tabuk, King Fahd Industrial Port in Yanbu and Yanbu Commercial Port. “An electricity power station will be set up at the Dammam port at cost of SR 192.3 million to raise power generation capacity from 50 to 120 megawatts to meet the port’s development requirements,” said Abdul Aziz Al-Tuwaijri, president of the authority. A container wharf will be constructed at Dhuba at a cost of SR 174.46 million and two wharfs at King Fahd port spending SR 144.38 million. A new wharf for services and receiving ships, recreation boats and yachts will be established in Yanbu port at a cost of SR 103.97 million. “This wharf at Yanbu Commercial Port will be constructed in cooperation with the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities to promote domestic tourism,” Al-Tuwaijri said. He said the new projects would improve the performance of Saudi ports. From: Arabnews
