Beirut - Nna

Head of Beirut and Mount Lebanon Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture Chamber, Mohammad Shoucair, launched in a press conference on Wednesday the 3rd Mediterranean City Economic Forum, to be held in Lebanon on forthcoming September 12 and 13 at Metropolitan Palace Hotel. The forum, aimed to bolster interaction and cooperation between Mediterranean cities to contribute to the civil economic development, is a continuation for the 2009 and 2010 meetings in Barcelona. Delegations from France, KSA, Morocco, Palestine, Spain, Turkey, Belgium, UAE, Jordan and Tunis are expected to partake in this forum. "This forum highlights the commitment of Mediterranean countries to founding a podium-like common ground so as to dwell on, discuss, and analyze challenges the region is likely to face, as well as to draw joint strategies based upon the partnership between private and public sectors to develop Mediterranean cities," said Shoucair. He did not fail to relay hope that Libya would participate in the proceedings of Mediterranean Commerce and Industry Chambers' Association soon in order that Tripoli should regain its paramount role in boosting the region's economy. Shoucair, who saw Lebanon's hosting this forum as an economic event per se, however regretted what he termed as 'vexatious political practices' which put national economy at stake. "We call that the private sector be given a chance to work, and that is only feasible through restoring political and security stability," he said.
