Sheikha Najla Mohammed Al Qasimi, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to Portugal, has praised the Sharjah Airport International Free Zone (SAIF Zone) and Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) for exploring the Portugal markets while addressing an investors' seminar in Lisbon, organised by SAIF Zone and in which the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) took part.
Sheikha Najla met with Saud Salim Al Mazrouei, Director of SAIF Zone and Hamriyah Free Zone who led the delegation to Lisbon. The delegation included Raed Bukhatir, deputy commercial director and Wafa Balsawad, marketing manager.
Al Mazrouei expressed his appreciation to Sheikha Najla Al Qasimi for her support and thanked Shurooq for its participation.
In the seminar, SAIF Zone showcased its role as a trade hub and gave an overview of the business opportunities in Sharjah. The show provided an excellent chance for investors to know the ongoing business opportunities available in the region and ways to gain connectivity in the regional market.
"The UAE and Portugal enjoy distinguished historic relations and we hope to make progress in the trade relations between the countries by exploring the exciting investment opportunities," remarked Al Mazrouei in his presentation in Lisbon which was attended by a number of potential investors who are interested in Sharjah.
"Currently over 20 companies from Portugal are operating from the SAIF Zone and a number of other investors are planning to branch out to SAIF Zone, "Al Mazrouei added.
The presentation also introduced the state-of-the-art facilities of SAIF Zone, the various advantages it possesses and the different licences provided which will help the investors to start their operations in the region.
"A visit to SAIF Zone and Sharjah would help Portuguese businesses get closer to the many opportunities available here. With its excellent infrastructure and modern facilities, SAIF Zone is the ideal gateway for new business opportunities," Al Mazrouei noted while inviting Portuguese companies to Sharjah Airport Free Zone.
He also highlighted SAIF Zone's strategic location as a door to Middle East and a platform for Asia and Africa complemented by the high quality logistics, road, airport and seaport infrastructures. In addition to Lisbon, Saif Zone also organised a seminar in Porto.
Currently over 500 Portuguese companies operate directly in the UAE market.
Saud Al Suwaidi, Director of International Affairs & Partnerships and Mohamed Al Musharrakh, Head of Investment Promotion represented Shurooq at the seminars.
SAIF ZONE has over 6, 800 companies operating out of it from 149 countries, carrying out varied business activities like light to medium manufacturing, trading and providing services such as IT and consultancy.
