Petroleum Minister Tarek el Molla
Amman - MENA

Petroleum Minister Tarek el Molla and Jordanian Energy Minister Ibrahim Saif on Saturday inaugurated the unit of gas measurement in Amman that supplies the third natural gas-based power plant IPP3 in the capital city.

Amman-Asia plant, which was opened ten months ago, would produce electricity from gas supplied by Egypt.

The station is the ninth of kind to be built by Jordanian Egyptian FAJR Company, el Molla said.

The company is expected to provide training for qualified cadres in Jordan and exchange experience to expand work in the field, the minister said.

In the same context, Saif asserted that the government of Jordan has established the new plant under the strictest environmental friendly standards.

In November in 2014, FAJR Company and Jordanian National Electricity Company inked an agreement to supply natural gas for the IPP3 station.

The IPP3 is the world’s largest internal combustion engine (ICE) power plant in Amman, Jordan.

The plant is powered by 38 Wärtsilä 50DF multi-fuel engines with a combined capacity of 573 MW. In recognition of its world record size, the plant has been accepted into the Guinness book of records.
