The overall Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the Palestinian Territory, with 2004 as its base year (2004 = 100), reached 133.74 in October 2011, according to a Palestinian Central Bureau of Statistics (PCBS) report on Monday. It said the CPI increased by 0.19% compared to September 2011 and by 1.81% compared to October 2010. The report said the change in consumer price index for October 2011 is traced to changes in prices of major expenditure groups compared to the previous month, such as an increase in prices of housing by 0.84%, furniture and household goods by 0.45%, textiles, clothing and footwear by 0.42% and medical care by 0.35%. Meanwhile, prices of miscellaneous goods and services decreased by 0.87% and those of restaurant, cafe and hotel services by 0.14%. CPI increased in comparison to the previous month in Jerusalem by 0.24%, in the West Bank by 0.04%, and in the Gaza Strip by 0.03%.
