Cairo – Yousry Mohammed

French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius has confirmed France will invest 300 million Euros into the new Metro project to construct a mass transit rail connection between the centre of Cairo and outlying districts. The cash injection into the project, to alleviate traffic congestion and improve the environment, is part of a wider scheme to encourage investment in Egypt. The talks between the foreign minister, President Mohamed Morsi, Prime Minister Hesham Kandil and the Secretary General of the Arab League Nabil Elaraby centred on moving relations between Egypt and France to the next stage. They also discussed the Syrian crisis and evaluated the Quartet initiative, launched by Morsi, with the participation of Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Iran. Fabius also added his country supports the Syrian refugees on the Turkish-Syrian border and will provide humanitarian assistance to them.
