Tunis - KUNA

The delegation of Kuwait Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI), led by Chairman Ali Mohammad Thanyan Al-Ghanem, met separately with Tunisian President Moncef Marzouki and Prime Minister Mehdi Jomaa here on Thursday night. The two meetings, attended by Kuwait Ambassador to Tunisia Fahad Ahmad Al-Awadhi, explored ways for cementing the economic cooperation and promoting the Kuwaiti investments in sisterly Tunisia. During his meeting with President Marzouki, Al-Ghanem reaffirmed the desire of Kuwaiti business community to support Tunisia's exemplary transition through more investment in sectors such as tourism, industry, infrastructure and communications, according to a presidential press release. On his part, President Marzouki commended the role of Kuwaiti businesspeople and investments in boosting economic growth, noting that Kuwait boasts well-established principles and practices in the areas of transparency and good-governance. The delegation held lengthy talks with Prime Minister Jomaa in the presence of Ambassador Al-Awadhi, Tunisian Minister of Finance Hakim Ben Hamouda and chairperson of the Tunisian Union of Industry, Trade and Handicrafts (UTICA) Wedad Bushmawi. "The very important talks focused on ways to intensify the Kuwaiti investments in Tunisia," Jomaa told KUNA and Kuwait TV following the meeting. The Prime Minister welcomed the desire of Kuwaiti businesspeople to invest heavily in his country. The delegation who arrived here earlier today on a three-day work visit are scheduled to hold talks with UTICA chairperson on the investment opportunities and trade exchanges
