Organisers have recently unveiled the master plan for Expo 2020 Dubai site, one of the most anticipated mega developments that will generate thousands of jobs and benefit the economy.

Expected to bring together more than 180 countries and 25 million visitors, the site in Jebel Ali will host the exhibition of products, trade and innovation from around the world during a six-month period from October 2020 to April 2021. It will be linked to three international airports and feature a dedicated transport network.

The master plan was showcased at the 15th edition of the Arab Media Forum, allowing visitors to be among the first to take a glimpse of how the Expo 2020 Dubai site will look and feel once completed.

The gated Expo site itself will spread across two square kilometres (200 hectares), revolving around the Al Wasl meeting plaza – the project's centrepiece, which will also feature a falcon-inspired UAE Pavilion.

Three themed districts called Opportunity, Mobility and Sustainability will be built, spreading outwards from the meeting plaza. Each zone will have a pavilion where the latest ideas, innovations and developments will be showcased.

The winning design for the UAE Pavilion was also revealed recently by the National Media Council.

"The falcon-inspired concept of the UAE Pavilion captures the values and principles that the nation was founded on and which reflect the theme of Expo 2020 Dubai, namely inclusion, connection and tolerance," organisers said.

Only about four years away, the global event is forecast to generate more than 277,000 jobs. Most of the hiring, or about 90 per cent of the positions, is expected to take place between 2018 and 2021.
