Mohammad Juma Nasser Buossaiba, Director-General of the UAE Federal Customs Authority, FCA, and Ahmed Mahbooh Musabih, Director of Dubai Customs, have signed an MoU on the delivery of inspection devices to Dubai Customs.

As per the MoU, the Federal Customs Authority will also provide training for Dubai Customs staff on how to use the new devices, in addition to regular maintenance methods.

Commenting on signing the MoU, Boussaiba said, "The signing of this MoU is part of Federal Customs Authority’s strategy to enhance borders and entries following the directives of our wise leadership. It’s also part of the new responsibilities in control and inspection given to the authority under Law No. 8 of 2015."

"Borders and entries worldwide, and in the Arab World in particular, are facing increasing challenges. Smugglers are innovating new methods and this puts customs apparatus in front of big challenges," he added.

"Part of our plan is to furnish all customs entries with the latest and most advanced scanning and inspection devices throughout 2017 and 2018. This will include mobile and fixed devices that will be used to check containers and vehicles, plus drug and explosives detection devices, vehicles, luggage and body scanning devices," Boussaiba explained.

Mr. Musabih said, "The new devices will sustain security further at all national customs entries, with the region witnessing more turbulence and challenges. Advanced technology can help maintain security and protect its valued assets."
