
Algeria recorded during the first 8 months of 2014 a trade surplus of $ 4.67 billion, against $5.87 billion in the same period of 2013, down 20.44%, Algerian Customs said Saturday.
From January to August, Algeria’s exports reached $ 43.77 billion against $ 43.46 billion at the same period of 2013, up 0.71%, according to the Customs’ National Center for Data Processing and Statistics (CNIS).
As for imports, they totalled $ 39.10 billion against $ 37.59 billion in the same period of reference, up 4.02%, said the source.
The hydrocarbons are the main Algerian exports with a share of 95.84% of the overall volume of exports, representing USD41.95 billion during the first 8 months of 2014 against USD42.13 billion in the same period a year earlier, down 0.43%.
