Dead Sea - WAFA

President Mahmoud Abbas Saturday invited Arab businessmen to visit Palestine and partner with their Palestinian counterparts. Addressing the opening session of the World Economic Forum on the Middle East and North Africa held at Jordan’s Dead Sea area, Abbas said that “investments enhance the steadfastness of our people, support efforts to achieve peace and stability in our region and bring benefit to the investors.” He said that regardless of the Israeli obstacles, which prevent Palestinians from fully exploiting their land and natural resources, Palestine enjoys promising opportunities and broad prospects in the fields of tourism, agriculture, telecommunications, information technology, energy and other promising investment sectors. Abbas said that the world is waiting to see the results of the efforts being made to reach a solution that will end the Israeli occupation of 1967 and guarantee the Palestinian people their legitimate right to an independent and sovereign state with East Jerusalem as its capital. He addressed the Israelis saying: “Ending the occupation, releasing prisoners, removing settlers and settlements and dismantling the apartheid wall are what make peace and guarantee security for you and us.” He insisted that it is still possible to achieve peace. “Let us make peace a reality on the ground so future generations will enjoy its fruits and live in its shade,” he said.
