Dr. Nasser L’khrebani Al Nuiami, Chairman of the Board of the Faraj Fund, confirmed earlier today that the charity organisation has successfully aided the release of 7,000 inmates since its inception in 2009. The massive number marks a significant milestone for the fund that was founded to offer support for prisoners and their families.

In a statement, Dr. Al Nuiami said, "Faraj Fund offers prisoners and their families an opportunity to begin a new life. It humbles me to know that our efforts have helped over 7,000 people. This mighty achievement reflects the solidarity and social cohesion of our great nation, the UAE." The organisation also provides some prisoners with the necessary funds to begin their life again upon their release.

Faraj Fund’s latest venture attempts to increase the number of permitted family visits to inmates. Prisoners look to benefit from the project psychologically as interacting with loved ones encourage renewed optimism, hope, and an overall better standard of life while serving their sentence.

The organisation has provided assistance for more than 900 families residing in the UAE. "I laud our donators’ good will in contributing to changing the lives of hundreds of families in the UAE. I would also like to encourage the UAE community to come together and donate, in order to support and help the needy. These families need our help and we must come together in social solidarity to guarantee these persons a chance to start fresh."

Dr. Al Nuiami also expressed his gratitude for the Ministry of Interior and the police department for its unwavering support to the fund. He added, "The police and the Ministry of Interior have provided unparalleled care to prison inmates and have worked tirelessly to protect and safeguard their rights and dignity. This effort is aligned to the UAE’s leadership directives to uphold human rights regardless of race and colour."
