Rafah - Yosry Mohamed

Egyptian authorities have allowed 64 trucks loaded with gravel to pass through the Rafah crossing into Gaza, a security source told Arabstoday. The 64 trucks carried 1215 cubic metres of small gravel to be used in Qatari projects to reconstruct Gaza. According to the agreement with Qatar, building materials will be passed to Gaza in batches. The move is a result of Egyptian-Qatari communications, and is the first of its kind since Hamas' control in Gaza. Egyptian and Qatari authorities have worked together for the former to provide materials needed for Gaza reconstruction like cement, gravel, stones and iron. The materials will enter Gaza Strip directly through Rafah, instead of the Awja and Shalom crossings.
