Cairo – Ashraf Nehad

Egyptian director Youssef Chahine will screen his film at the fourth Berlin Festival for Arabic Cinema. The film “Awdat el-Ebn el-Dal” (Return of the Lost Child) will be shown at the festival, which runs from November 5 to 11. The 1976 film will be honoured as a milestone film in old Egyptian cinema. Chahine died in a military hospital in Cairo in 2008 and was buried in Alexandria. Forty films will be screened at the festival including films from Egypt, Algeria, Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon, among others. The Algerian documentary "Fidai" for Algerian French director Damien Ounouri was screened in the opening ceremony of the festival. The film portrays the story of El-Hadi Ben Douda and other Algerian revolutionists who struggled against French occupation.
