Washington - WAM

The UAE Embassy in Washington, DC, has supported the 22nd annual Arabian Sights Film Festival, where "The Worthy", a movie directed by Emirati filmmaker Ali F. Mostafa, was showcased.

The movie was screened as the closing event feature on October, 29th, followed by a reception hosted by the embassy which was attended by over 150 people.

"The Worthy", a visually spectacular take on the Arab world torn apart by social disorder, is a science fiction thriller that stands out among traditional Arabic films as being the first Arab film to apply the use of 4-dimentional technology. The movie premiered on October 8th, 2016 at the London Film Festival and participated in the Dubai International Film Festival that same year.

Commenting on the festival, Yousef Al Otaiba, UAE Ambassador to the United States, said, "Having an Emirati film receive such recognition highlights the rising significance of the film maker and film industry in the UAE and regionally."
