Beijing - QNA
The eleventh typhoon of the season, Haikui, has landed on China's East coast. Haikui made landfall in Hepu Township in Xiangshan County near the Sanmenwan Gulf in central China's Zhejiang Province on Wednesday. Its maximum wind speed is around 150 kilometres per hour. The state flood control center has raised its emergency response to Level two, the second highest on the scale, according to China's (Xinhua) News Agency. Typhoon Haikui has brought downpours and flooding across the East coast, leaving dozens of people stranded. Meanwhile, strong wind and heavy rain has left 530 thousand people in Xiangshan county without power. Haikui may end up staying around the Yangtze River Delta, meaning more rain over the next three days for southern Jiangsu and southeastern Anhui provinces, along with the city of Shanghai. Meteorological authorities say rainfall in the affected areas could reach 500 millimetres .
