Washington - Upi

Tropical Storm Rina was expected to build as it moved in the Caribbean Sea, prompting tropical storm watches in Honduras and Nicaragua, forecasters said Monday. Rina, with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph, was about 130 miles north-northeast of Cabo Gracias a Dio on the Nicaragua-Honduras border, and about 195 miles west of Grand Cayman Island, moving north-northwest at 6 mph, the National Hurricane Center in Miami said in its 5 a.m. EDT advisory. Rina was expected to turn west during the next two days, the center said. The storm's center was forecast to pass north of the northeastern coast of Honduras. Rina could produce between 1-3 inches of rain along the northeast coast of Honduras, with up to 5 inches of rain possible in isolated areas. The rains could cause flash flooding and mudslides, the center said. The center said 1-3 inches of rain could fall over the Cayman Islands.
