Kuwait Dive Team called for stop to the current sea pilling works of Sheikh Jaber Bridge project to protect marine species in the targeted area.
In a press statement, the Team said that the current pilling works in this marine species-rich area constitute a violation to the international ecosystem protection regulations.
These works should be stopped to safeguard the marine species and ecosystem in the area, the statement said, adding that moving the marine species to more safe areas is not a difficult mission.
The Team also expressed readiness to help implement the mission and move the marine species in the area to a safer place.
Kuwait Dive Team is a group of dedicated divers and marine life specialists who are working tirelessly and voluntarily to protect the marine environment of Kuwait. They have been awarded many times for their work.
The multibillion dollar-cost Sheikh Jaber Bridge project is a causeway, to be named after late Amir Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad al-Sabah, is to link the capital Kuwait City with the northern Subbiya area, which is to become home to the Silk City project. It involves construction of two sea bridges, one linked to Subbiya and the other linked to Doha.
The project will also include 2 man-made islands of 30 hectares; one on the northern side and the other on the southern side of the bridge which will house maintenance and traffic emergency buildings, fueling stations and boat docks.
