The water level in the Amur River near Khavbarovsk has risen to the 770 cm mark, an official at the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (RME) center for Khabarovsk Territory told Itar-Tass. "Over the pas 24 hours, the level of water in the Amur near Khabarovsk rose by 14 cm to the 770 cm mark as of early Friday," the official said. Earlier, the Roshydromet had predicted a water rise up to 780 cm and higher. If the rate of the water rise keeps on, the mark may be exceeded later in the day. In Khabarovsk, work is being continued to build and consolidate protective dikes.Water is being pumped out of the flooded yards of five-storey buildings.
