Assistant of the President of the Republic, Abdul-Rahman Al-Saddiq Al-Mahdi, Tuesday received in his office Deputy Wali (governor) of Khartoum State, Siddiq Al-Sheikh, and informed on the efforts of Khartoum State for warding off impacts of the floods and heavy rainfall. In a press statement, Al-Sheikh said that the meeting reviewed the arrangements being carried out by the state to ward off the impacts resulting from the heavy rains and floods that hit a number of areas in Khartoum State. He referred to formation of a higher committee headed by the Wali and composed of technical committees for dealing with the issue. He said that the Assistant of the President of the Republic has called for coordination with the mass media to confront these challenges.
