An earthquake measuring 5.5 on the Richter scale hit the sea area near the Hualien County of Taiwan on Monday, according to the China Earthquake Networks Center.
The epicenter was monitored at 24.1 degrees north latitude and 122.3 degrees east longitude with a depth of about 8 kilometers, the center said. No report about loss has been received yet.
