Jakarta - QNA

An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale struck the waters off Indonesia's Sukabumi district, West Java, on Wednesday night. The quake was centered about 78 km southwest of Sukabumi town, 132 km southwest of the West Java provincial capital of Bandung or 176 km of Jakarta at a depth of 10 km, Indonesia's news agency (Antara) reported Thursday, citing the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG). The quake did not have the potential to cause a tsunami, BMKG said. Indonesia sits on the Pacific "Ring of Fire" where the meeting of continental plates causes high volcanic and seismic activity.
