 An increase of 29 per cent in the number of planned land plots in the Sultanate has been reported in the latest data released by Oman’s official data keeper.

In absolute terms, the number of planned land plots reached 63,640 by the end of 2016,as against 49,520 in 2015. 

The number of granted land plots was 36,811, down by 14 per cent from the year 2015, when the total number of granted land plots was 42,837. The number of plots registered for the first time stood at 55,140 according to data released by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

The bulletin showed that the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah received the largest share of the planned land plots in 2016 reaching 12,296 compared to other governorates.

The Governorate of South A’Sharqiyah came in second place with 11,736 plots, followed by the Governorate of A’Dhahirah with 10,318 plots, Governorate of North Al Batinah with 9,341 plots, followed by the Governorate of Muscat with 6,004 plots.

The bulletin pointed out that GCC citizens owned 107,000 properties in 2016. Citizens of the State of Kuwait ranked first by 43 per cent with 481 properties, followed by UAE nationals by 38 per cent and 425 properties, Saudi nationals by 6 per cent with 62 properties, Bahraini nationals with 8 per cent and 84 properties followed by Qatari nationals by 5 per cent and 55 properties. The number of families benefiting from housing assistance and the related amounts reached 115 given OMR2,778,879.

The number of housing loans provided by Oman Housing Bank in 2016 amounted to 642,000 that worth OMR70,084,900.

The number of housing loans provided by the Ministry of Defence stood at 3,384 amounting to OMR45,658,629. The number of housing loans provided by Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) stood at 621 that worth OMR44,110,248.
