Egypt has today welcomed the Syrian ceasefire which was announced by Russia. The Foreign Ministry urged all parties to the agreement to abide by the deal as a step to end the Syrian people's ordeal resulting from violence and fighting.
In a statement reported by the Middle East News Agency, the ministry described the deal as being consistent with Egypt's firm approach since the beginning of the Syrian crisis. The statement reiterated the Egyptian stance which calls for a just political solution that achieves the people's aspirations, puts an end to the bloodshed and preserve Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty and restores stability, while pursuing the combat to root out the heinous scourge of terrorism.
