Ghana Football Association
Accra - XINHUA

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) said on Thursday it had approved Avram Grant's program of monitoring Black Stars players in Europe over the next few weeks.

According to the association, the monitoring will give impetus to the coach' s plans of making the senior national team stronger.

As part of his contract with the Black Stars, Grant was expected to stay in the country to monitor players in the domestic top-flight league.

But the ex-Chelsea trainer abandons his post and stays abroad most often, much to the chagrin of the football fraternity in Ghana.

The GFA said in a press release here Thursday that, with most of the leagues in Europe drawing to a close, the next few weeks offered the perfect opportunity for the Black Stars coach to monitor some players on the team' s periphery before the end of the season.

"It is important for the coach to monitor some more Ghanaians players both at home and abroad to create competition and invigorate the Black Stars squad," the release said.

Grant is expected to focus on monitoring the local league for new talents on his return, while supporting the activities of the other national teams.
