Frightening autograph frenzy greets Giants' Odell Beckham

New York Giants receiver Odell Beckham, whose leaping one-handed sideline catch shot him to NFL stardom last season, has lost none of his drawing power as the 2015 campaign approaches.

It made for some frightening moments after an open training session on Friday when fans straining to get his autograph left some young spectators squeezed against railings before the aluminium stands where the fans were standing buckled and brought the autograph session to a quick end.

Beckham, who had been methodically signing as many objects thrust toward him as he could, was hustled away with teammates when the bleachers bent several inches.

The Giants later said no fans were hurt when the bleachers "shifted" but announced a change to post-training autograph sessions.

"The post-practice autograph session will be relocated to the Kids' Zone area at the north end of the practice fields, and autographs will be limited to children 12 and under," the Giants said in a release.

Beckham set Giants rookie records with 91 receptions for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns in only 12 games and had nine games in a row with 90 or more receiving years, matching an NFL record set by Dallas Cowboys star Michael Irvin in 1995.

But his season was remembered most for one play in a 31-28 loss to Dallas, a one-handed touchdown grab while leaping backward at the goal line.
