Muscat - ONA

BankMuscat today launched Green Sports initiative under the patronage of Sheikh Sa'ad bin Mohammed al-Mardhouf al- Sa'adi, Minister of Sports Affairs as part of the Bank's Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative started in 2012.   The initiative aims at strengthening the Bank's role, as an Omani pioneering company keen on activating social responsibility concept and partnership between the private sector and the government to achieve sustainable development and benefiting communities across the Sultanate.   The Green Sports initiative will identify clubs spread across the Sultanate to green their fields. BankMuscat recognizes that local clubs wield immense influence on neighbourhood communities, especially youth, hence clubs with modern infrastructure facilities can help raise sporting heroes for the country, particularly football. Sheikh Sa'ad bin Mohammed al-Mardouf al-Sa'adi, Minister of Sports Affairs said that the Green Sports initiative by BankMuscat is highly commendable as it helps lay the foundation at the grass-root level for sports infrastructure across the Sultanate. The initiative complements the government efforts in building a sporting nation by providing the youth with the required infrastructure facilities. The initiative also contributes to sustainable development and protection of the environment, thereby ensuring all-round development in Oman. Sheikh Khalid bin Mustahail al-Ma'ashani, Chairman of BankMuscat said that BankMuscat is proud to launch the Green Sports initiative as part of its CSR strategy to further strengthen its leadership role in social responsibility and facilitate partnership between the government and the private sector for sustainable development and progress of Oman, inspired by the directive of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said to activate the role of the private sector in social responsibility and development of the Omani society. Abdulrazaq bin Ali bin Issa, Chief Executive of BankMuscat said that early this year, the Bank launched its new vision, ‘We Can Do More' focused on the concept of reaching out to society in all arenas. BankMuscat reckons itself as a Renaissance achievement and remains committed to fulfilling its economic and social role. The Green Sports initiative is a strategic decision by the Bank to lay the foundation for a sporting nation in partnership with the Ministry of Sports Affairs.
