England's cricketer Chris Jordan
St. George's - Arab Today

James Anderson and Chris Jordan struck early to have the West Indies struggling on 36 for two at the lunch interval following a rain-shortened first session of the second Test at the Queen's Park Stadium in Grenada on Tuesday.

Under overcast skies that produced the sporadic showers which delayed the start of play until almost midday, Anderson produced an unplayable inswinger to bowl Kraigg Brathwaite in the seam bowler’s second over.

Brathwaite's opening partner, Devon Smith, appeared to have luck on his side as he was dropped by Garry Ballance at leg-slip off Jordan when on 13.

However in the same over, Jordan and his teammates got the umpire's verdict to a concerted appeal for a catch by wicketkeeper Jos Buttler.

Television replays suggested that Smith's bat may not have touched the ball but the ground.

Strangely, the local hero, who became the first Grenadian to play a Test on home soil, chose not to have the decision reviewed by the television umpire and left the field shaking his head in disappointment for 15.
Darren Bravo and Marlon Samuels will be seeking to rebuild the West Indies innings in the afternoon session.

Bravo took two boundaries off the opening over from off-spinner Moeen Ali in the last over to the interval.

Ali, who missed the drawn first Test in Antigua while completing his recovery from an injury suffered during the World Cup, came into the England final 11 as a replacement for fellow off-spinner James Tredwell.

Tredwell strained his bowling arm attempting a diving return catch in the final minutes of play in Antigua last Friday.
