Birmingham - AFP

South Africa captain AB de Villiers won the toss and elected to field against England in the rain-affected third and final Twenty20 international at Edgbaston on Wednesday. Rain had reduced this match to an 11 overs per side contest after a dowmpour at Old Trafford on Monday washed out the second match of the series with just five more balls needing to be bowled for a result to be declared. England made three changes with Michael Lumb, a member of the team that won the World Twenty20 in the Caribbean two years ago, returning in place of opener Alex Hales and Tim Bresnan, fit following an elbow problem, in for Steven Finn. Meanwhile England also gave a Twenty20 international debut to left-arm spinner Danny Briggs. A star performer for English domestic Twenty20 champions Hampshire, Briggs replaced fellow left-arm spinner Samit Patel. This was only Briggs's second full England appearance following his lone one-day international outing against Pakistan in Dubai in February. South Africa, the world's top-ranked Twenty20 side, made two changes, resting batsman JP Duminy and fast bowler Dale Steyn as Faf du Plessis and Wayne Parnell were recalled. The tourists cannot lose the series following their seven-wicket win at Chester-le-Street on Saturday. Both teams are due to leave England on Thursday for this month's World Twenty20 in Sri Lanka. England: Craig Kieswetter (wkt), Michael Lumb, Luke Wright, Eoin Morgan, Jos Buttler, Jonathan Bairstow, Tim Bresnan, Stuart Broad (capt), Graeme Swann, Jade Dernbach, Danny Briggs South Africa: Richard Levi, Hashim Amla, Faf du Plessis, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers (capt/wkt), Justin Ontong, Albie Morkel, Johan Botha, Robin Peterson, Wayne Parnell, Morne Morkel Umpires: Richard Illingworth (ENG) and Rob Bailey (ENG) TV umpire: Peter Hartley (ENG) Match referee: Andy Pycroft (ZIM)
