Oilers' Eager charged after bar fight

Edmonton Oilers forward Ben Eager and his brother were facing charges Monday after being arrested in connection with an altercation at a Toronto bar. Eager, 28, a renowned NHL fighter and tough guy, and his brother Michael each were charged with threatening bodily harm, assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon after the early Sunday incident, CTV reported. The broadcaster said the pair fought with a member of a bar security staff at an establishment in Toronto's Rosedale neighborhood in an incident that was caught on videotape. The bar employee was taken to a hospital for treatment of cuts, the report said. Toronto Police acknowledged the incident to The (Toronto) Globe and Mail but refused to release any further details. Eager, a 6-foot-2, 240-pound left wing, has been suspended several times in his NHL career, including a four-game penalty last season for delivering a sucker-punch to Toronto Maples Leafs forward Colby Armstrong. "We are aware of the reports, however we cannot comment any further at this time," Oilers team spokesman J.J. Hebert told the newspaper. NHL players have been locked out this month as the NHL and the players union attempt to hammer out a new collective bargaining agreement.
