New York - UPI

Carmelo Anthony's 31 points Friday brought New York back from an early deficit and kept the Knicks unbeaten with a 104-94 win over Dallas. New York improved to 4-0, the best start to a season for the Knicks since they went 7-0 at the beginning of the 1993-94 campaign. New York is the only unbeaten team left in the NBA. Dallas led by 11 during the second period and was still in front by two at the half, but Anthony and J.R. Smith carried the load as New York slowly took over. Anthony took 22 shots to get to his 31 points while Smith scored 22 points off the bench. New York had only a four-point lead with 9 minutes remaining, then closed the game on an 18-12 run. O.J. Mayo led Dallas with 23 points. The Mavericks had won three in a row and will finish a brief road trip on Saturday in Charlotte.
