Manama - Arabstoday
Six plots in the UK, four Kia vehicles and valuable cash awards are up for grabs at the Sixth Nasser bin Hamad Football Championship, set to commence on Thursday. The prizes for this year's edition cup were approved by Supreme Council for Youth and Sports Chairman, Bahrain Olympic Committee (BOC) President and tournament patron Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa. Eamonn and Co, the tournament silver sponsors, has donated the plots in the UK, while the vehicles were presented by Bin Hindi Motors, all to be given away to football fans coming to watch the matches through raffle draws. Other companies which have stepped forward to support this year's event are Diamond sponsors Al Sharif, Golden sponsors E. K Kanoo, Silver sponsors Bapco, Al Noor International School, bronze sponsors Batelco, GPIC, Bahrain Jewellery Centre, Behbehani and Brothers, Menatelecom, Reem Al Murjan Real Estate and Bahrain TV Sports Channel. Executive Committee chairman and Shaikh Nasser Media and Information Office director Tawfeeq Al Salehi said the committee had a meeting with Bahrain Radio and TV Corporation representatives Nabeel Buhaza and Fawaz Shamsan to finalise the Bahrain TV Sport Channel coverage this year. Al Salehi said the committee also had another meeting with Bahrain Football Association officials Mohammed Qassim and Hassan Ismail to co-ordinate the timetable of the association competitions to avoid any clashes with the tournament programme. Al Salehi affirmed that football fans will be able to follow this year's tournament updates through social network services like facebook, instagram and twitter, besides providing short SMS services for the teams with matches results through mobile application 'Whatsapp'. Meanwhile, Shaikh Nasser asserted that the championship will always remain an oasis for the youth and a real outlet for all to display their football talents which may lead gifted players to stardom in the future. Shaikh Nasser thanked the sponsoring companies for their support to this year's tournament. He hailed the key role played by those companies in sponsoring various sporting and youth functions. He said continuity of the tournament, which has reached its sixth edition, is a vivid proof of its success thanks to cooperation between official and sport parties in Bahrain. He thanked Municipalities Affairs and Urban Planning Minister Dr. Juma'a bin Ahmed Al Ka'abi for holding the raffle draw at Khalifa bin Salman Park in Hidd. From BNA
