Dubai - Arabstoday
Clarence Seedorf is a legend in AC Milan having been associated with the Italian giant's successes for nearly a decade. And probably no one better than him knows how crucial the job of a coach is when it comes to lifting the team's performance, having played under several in his illustrious career. The Dutch international feels that every time the club brings in a new coach the routine is broken as every coach has his own individual way of training. It was the same with Italian Masssimiliano Allegri, who took over as the Milan coach in 2010. Allegri was successful early on as he led Milan to their first championship title since 2004, last year. "The new coach has brought new tactical skills and new stimulus. This is normal as a new coach breaks a routine," Seedorf, who is in the UAE as part of the Milan's winter camp in Dubai, told XPRESS in an exclusive interview. Winter home Milan have made Dubai their base for their winter camp considering the excellent weather this part of the world offers. It gains importance as it helps them stay in shape for the second part of the season. "Winter camps in Dubai offer us a guarantee that we will be able to train regularly; in Italy it's freezing now. "We always find lovely hospitality here which makes us feel at home and a warm temperature that helps our muscles during athletic preparation," said the veteran, who became the first player to win three Champions League medals with three different clubs — Real Madrid, Inter Milan and his current side. "Dubai is a good region for winter camps thanks to its training facilities, good infrastructure and high quality of life. "You can also have fun if you want. This is the main reason why not only football clubs but also professional athletes from other sports, such as tennis, come here often to optimise their athletic preparation. In the past I also came here for holidays with my family and friends," added Seedorf, who was part of the Milan squad which won the Fifa Club World Cup, thereby becoming the first European player to win the trophy with three different clubs. Seedorf also stressed that the team were confident of a positive result against Arsenal in the Champions League knock-out matches. "I am very confident and optimistic about the matches against Arsenal. I think it will mostly depend on how we will approach the first match in Milan in order to be more optimistic when we will play in London," said the 35-year-old.
