Berlin - Xinhua

Schalke 04 stopped Monchengladbach's winning streak as Spaniard striker Raul netted a second-half winner for his side whilst Hannover and Mainz share points after a 1-1 draw in an exciting match on Sunday. In a varied match on high pace Schalke and Monchengladbach staged offensively minded soccer over 90 minutes. Both sides exchange offensive actions without enough luck until the interval. After break Schalke opened the scoring in the 64th minute through Spaniard veteran striker Raul who netted with the third follow-up shot from very close distance. Monchengladbach suffered their first loss in four matches. "Today was fantastic match with a high pace by both teams. I am very happy that we have kept a clean sheet today," said Schalke coach Ralf Rangnick. Also on Sunday Hannover and Mainz shared points after a 1-1 tie. Mainz striker Sami Allagui scored with only two minutes into the match when he utilized a pass at the last post to stun Hannover. At the 30th minute, Hannover striker Mohammed Abdellaoue equalized the score for his side after he exploited a cross pass inside penalty area. "We started with a dim-witted early goal against but in the second half we have worked out many chances but unfortunately it did not work out with the winning goal," said Hannover coach Mirko Slomka.
