Johannesburg - Arabstoday

Bernard Parker raised his goal tally to seven from five league matches as Kaizer Chiefs defeated Bidvest Wits 3-1 Monday to go five points clear at the top of the South African Premiership. A 32,000 public-holiday crowd at Mbombela stadium in the north-eastern city of Nelspruit saw Parker score twice in the first half, Calvin Kadi halve the deficit with ten minutes left and Lehlohonolo Majoro complete the scoring. It was a game of two halves with Chiefs dominating the first and causing constant problems with low crosses before Wits introduced Asive Langwe at the break and his creative work on the right flank deserved greater reward. But the night belonged to Parker, who scored only three league goals last season after a much-hyped return to South Africa following spells with Serbian, Dutch and Greek clubs. Mbombela is his lucky ground as he scored both goals for Bafana Bafana there this month in a 2-0 friendly victory over Mozambique after being recalled to the national team. The other seven league fixtures are scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday with the highlights being defending champions Orlando Pirates against Ajax Cape Town in Soweto and a Pretoria derby between Mamelodi Sundowns and SuperSport United.
