Mexico City - Arabstoday
Rafael Marquez Lugo scored twice in the second half as Guadalajara caused a surprise in the Apertura by winning 3-1 at Club America. Club America had a chance to go third in the table at the start of the day but were left in fifth place. Marco Jhonfai Fabian put Guadalajara ahead with a close-range header in the 35th minute, cancelled out five minutes later when Juan Carlos Medina showed smart footwork and a precise finish. Guadalajara came out strongly in the second half and Marquez was rewarded in the 59th minute for a purposeful run when his strike took a deflection and wrong-footed Hugo Gonzalez. His second goal was all his own work, and a stunning strike, as he turned well and curled a left-footed shot from 25 yards over Gonzalez from a starting point to the right of goal. Guadalajara climbed to eighth place with their win. Draws elsewhere Leon remain third but had to settle for a point at Pachuca, drawing 1-1. Matias Britos put Leon ahead in the 38th minute and substitute Raul Meraz levelled on the hour. Pachuca had Jorge Hernandez sent off in the 90th minute. Puebla were 2-1 winners away to Tigres Monterrey, with second-half goals from Jesus Chavez and Edison Toloza wiping out a 13th-minute opener from the home side's Damian Alvarez. Puebla's Efrain Dimayuga was red-carded in the 89th minute. Lowly Atlas held Cruz Azul 1-1, going ahead after 30 minutes through Matias Vuoso but seeing their hopes of a second win this season hit when Omar Bravo levelled in the 56th minute. Another 1-1 draw involved Queretaro and their visitors Santos Laguna, who snatched a 37th-minute lead through Herculez Gomez but were pegged back by Luis Landin six minutes into the second half. FIFA
