Anderlecht slip up against Genk

Genk slowed down Anderlecht's push to wrap up the Jupiler League title with a 3-1 win at Stade Constant Vanden Stock this evening. The hosts lead the table by four points and could have moved seven clear with victory, with second-placed Club Brugge having three games to play including tomorrow's visit of Gent. But they trailed 2-0 at half-time to goals from Christian Benteke and Anthony Vanden Borre and, though Dieumerci Mbokani reduced the deficit, there was no way back. Jelle Vossen's goal clinched victory before Anderlecht's Milan Jovanovic missed a penalty in the closing stages. Mechelen recorded their first win in their pursuit to qualify for the UEFA Europa League, with a 2-1 success against Leuven. Wannes van Tricht and Jaime Ruiz put the hosts 2-0 up in the first half-hour and Oleksandr Yakovenko's 52nd-minute penalty was the only response Leuven could muster. Mons remain top of Group B despite being held to a 1-1 home draw by nine-man Lokeren. Sawaneh Ibou put Mons ahead in the 31st minute, but Benjamin de Ceulaer equalised and, though both Jeremy Taravel and Nill de Pauw collected second yellow cards, the hosts could not find a winner. Zulte Waregem beat Beerschot 2-0 to move above their opponents in the standings, Jeremy Serwy and M'Baye Leye scoring either side of half-time.
