Rome - ANSA
Pescara midfielder Marco Verratti, 19, who is considered to be Pirlo's heir, has been sought after by both Naples and Juventus AC, as well as by Paris Saint Germain, whose owner, the Sheikh Al-Thani, has put in an offer of 14 million euros. This would be the second coup for Al-Thani's team, after landing Lavezzi, formerly of Naples AC, for 30 million euro. Real Madrid Juvenile defender Dani Carvajal, 20, was bought by Bayer Leverkusen for 8 million euros. Inter bought goalie Samir Handanovic from Udine for 11 million euro, while letting midfield defender Lucio's contract expire. Lucio is moving to Juventus AC, which is also buying Isla and Asamoah from Udinese AC. Inter bought Argentine defender Matias Silvestre from Palermo AC for 9 million euro. Also leaving Inter is Uruguayan striker Forlan, who is setting off to play in Brazil's Internacional de Porto Alegre AC. Andre Villa Boas moved from Chelsea to Tottenham, and bought Icelandic midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson to strengthen his midfield, as Croatian star Luka Modric is being wooed away by Real Madrid for a possible 35 million euros. Boas is also looking at Brazilian player Ganso as a possible substitute for Modric. Tottenham might also lose Giovanni dos Santos, the Mexican player who had a hard time adapting to London and may join Al-Thani's other team, Malaga AC, which also has its eye set on his younger brother, Jonathan Dos Santos, who currently plays in Barcelona AC.
