Yasser al-Kadi is focusing on hyperlocal projects Cairo – Mohi al-Kardousi The IT sector in Egypt has remained strong, despite events around the country, Yasser al-Kadi, CEO of the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), has told Egyptian economic daily Al-Boursa. The IT executive added that his agency was seeking to open new channels of communication with foreign investors, in the hope of bringing foreign investments into the sector. He added that Egypt possesses the necessary foundations and factors, in addition to competitive advantages that the CEO said help the country maintain its growth rates and attract more investments. "The government is committed to reviving the economy with the increase in job opportunities," he added. Al-Kadi said his agency was conducting marketing campaign to promote Egypt as one of the top outsourcing and programming destinations, due to advantages such as the advanced linguistic skills and exceptional level of Egyptian graduates. Speaking about new projects for 2013, al-Kadi said ITIDA was seeking to implement various programmes and plans aimed at helping local enterprises and absorbing medium and small ventures. These activities he said, were in addition to the continuation of the marketing campaign for the Egyptian IT sector through which the agency presents Egypt as capable of attracting more foreign investments. The agency will also supervise setting and implementing strategies related to innovation and entrepreneurship in the IT sector, in cooperation with the Technology Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre. ITIDA will also work on activating e-signature services to support and encourage e-signature applications in all fields.
