The head of Mechanical and Electrical Department in Egypt's Ministry of Irrigation and Water Resources, Dr. Mustafa Abu Zeid, announced, in an exclusive interview with Arabs Today, that the ministry prepared an emergency plan to cope with the floods crisis, in 2015, after the floods sank some villages and farmland governorates of Alexandria and Beheira, in November 2015.

Abu Zeid indicated that the ministry financed the plan with EGP131 million, put the work at an estimated cost of $ 12 million funded by the Saudi Fund for Development and the Islamic Development Bank, noting that the body provided the spare parts needed for repairs of 27 units in the pumping stations, in  Alexandria and al-Beheira provinces before winter season.

The body provided also 34 new emergency unit, in addition to the maintenance of the old units, and providing the need pipes and distribution panels and installing it as well as the rehabilitation of gear boxes for plants of al-Tabya, Halq al-Gamal, Delengat, al-Khaiery and al-Dashody, at a total cost of EGP700,000, he said.

Abu Zeid pointed to the assignment of the electrical works in stations of al-Tabya and al-Max (1-2)to the Armed Forces Engineering Authority,  includes the supply and installation of medium and low voltage panels and electric engines in al-Tabya and al-Max stations (1-2).

He noted also that al-Beheira Electricity Distribution Company is conducting rehabilitation works in electrical nutrients (1-2) for the station Bersieq and rehabilitation of the wires on the line of medium voltage in Mariot (4-5).

Renewing al-Tabya station funded by a loan from the SFD, and supplying of spare parts and gear boxes for the West Delta stations at an estimated cost of $ 7 million funded by the IDB, he stated.
