Dubai Smart Government's stand at GITEX
Dubai - Arab Today

Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is participating in GITEX Technology Week 2014. DEWA's participation supports the Smart Government initiative launched by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, and DEWA's efforts to promote its smart services.
DEWA will be present at the Dubai Smart Government's stand at GITEX, which will be held from 12 to 16 October 2014, at Dubai World Trade Centre.
DEWA was one of the first governmental organisations to announce the complete transformation of its services into smart services in less than a year after the launch of the Smart Dubai initiative, which aims to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world. Through its participation at GITEX, DEWA aims to reach a larger segment of users and encourage using its smart services that enable customers to complete their transactions easily and conveniently. Through the smart services, DEWA can meet a large number of requests and transactions simultaneously without any delay. GITEX visitors can learn more about DEWA's smart services by visiting its stand.
"Our participation in GITEX, the largest information and communication technologies (ICT) exhibition in the region, aims to demonstrate DEWA's latest smart services and initiatives to visitors and customers, and encourage them to adopt a smarter and easier way of living. DEWA's smart transformation will help build a better future for everyone by effective participating in achieving the vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, to achieve the satisfaction and happiness of the customers by making government services available to them round the clock in support of the strategy of the government," said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA.
"DEWA announced it has transformed all of its services into smart services less than a year after the launch of the Smart Dubai initiative. We have launched many services and features through our smart app which complements the technological development DEWA has been achieving steadily since 2010 based on a clear understanding of customer needs for a sustainable future for generations to come," added Al Tayer.
Among the initiatives it will showcase at GITEX, DEWA will highlight its three initiatives that support the Smart Dubai initiative to transform Dubai into the smartest city in the world. The first initiative is to encourage households and building owners to install photovoltaic solar panels to generate electricity, which can be consumed within the premises with the surplus to be exported to DEWA's grid.
The second initiative is deploying smart meters and applications that enable the customers to directly monitor their actual electricity and water consumption through their smart device or PC. The third initiative includes establishing the infrastructure for electric-vehicle charging stations. The public can easily charge their electric cars which will reflect positively on the environment by protecting the environment from pollution caused by vehicles that run on fuel.
"Our participation in GITEX 2014 is intended to connect with different segments of society to show them our latest smart initiatives and services to fulfil their daily and future needs and guarantee them full ease of use. We invite all GITEX visitors to visit our stand and experiment our unique smart services first-hand, and ask all the questions they might have about the services or other issues," said Moza Al Akraf, Acting CIO at DEWA.
"This year's participation supports DEWA's efforts to develop its smart services to adopt the latest technologies and fulfil current and future needs, and to work effectively and efficiently to raise usability and efficiency levels," added Al Akraf.
DEWA has announced a promotional campaign to mark its participation in GITEX 2014. Customers who pay their bills in full for three consecutive months from 1 August 2014 till 31 January 2015, qualify for a raffle draw to win grand prizes. Daily raffle draws during GITEX will give the chance to customers who complete certain services through DEWA's smart app from July to October 2014, to win valuable prizes. The qualifying services include Move-out, Move-in, Pay for a Friend, Activating the Auto-pay through mPay, and registering for the Green Bill.
DEWA provides all its services on devices that support iOS and Android platforms, and on its web application on the website (www.dewa.gov.ae) for mobile phones. It can also be used on other platforms such as BlackBerry, Windows, Windows Phone, Samsung home applications, Samsung Galaxy Gear and Etisalat's eLife.
