Yum; "Making sustainable packing a priority" London - James Campbell Yum, the world’s largest fast food company has announced it will start using greener packaging materials. The company which owns Pizza Hut, KFC and Taco Bell will no longer use materials sourced from rainforests. And will start to use more recycled packaging. The Environmental News Network welcomed the news, reporting that packaging production is responsible for clearing an estimated 25 percent of Sumatra’s rain forests. In a statement released via the Yum website, the company stated, “We are in a unique position to provide environmentally preferable packing to our customers around the globe while reducing our impact on the environment.” Yum will release a more detailed policy stating targets in 2014.
