Dubai - Arab Today

Noor Dubai Foundation has succeeded in diagnosing, treating and caring for more than 1,553 eye patients in Kattankudy town, Sri Lanka.

The Foundation conducted at its camp 462 surgeries and distributed 465 eyeglasses to the visually impaired with the support of the Dubai Islamic Humanitarian Foundation.

This is the second of four such therapeutic camps to be organised in Sri Lanka by the Noor Dubai Foundation during the current year to alleviate the suffering of people afflicted with eye diseases.

Humaid Mohamed Al Qatami, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Noor Dubai Foundation, stressed that the organisation provided a leading model of philanthropy and established a noble concept through its humanitarian mission ordered by Vice President and Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, to treat the needy people, especially the poorest.

He noted that the number of people who benefitted from the foundation's services has reached more than 24 million in developing countries in Asia and Africa over the past five years . The number is expected to rise to 30 million people by 2025.

Noor Dubai's mission is to combat blindness globally and help those in need to escape extreme poverty by restoring their ability to see.
