The Council of Representatives has strongly condemned all terrorist acts and criminal plots targeting the nation, the citizens and residents, citing the attempted assassination of the Commander-in-Chief of the Bahrain Defence Force (BDF) and many other terrorist crimes carried out by Iran-backed groups.

In a statement issued by the Council of Representatives during its 13th regular meeting of the fourth session of the Fourth Legislative Term, held under the chairmanship of Speaker Ahmed bin Ibrahim Al-Mulla, today, the council announced its full-fledged support for all legal measures undertaken by the state to safeguard security and stability, protect lives and property of citizens and residents and preserve the nation’s capabilities and achievements.

The Representatives Council commended the role played by the competent security authorities in taking preemptive security measures that contributed to thwarting the plot of a terrorist cell, whose members have been arrested following their attempt to assassinate the BDF Commander-in-Chief and after carrying out many other terrorist crimes.

All legal guarantees are provided by the military judiciary, as stipulated by both the Criminal Procedures Law of 2002, and the Military Judiciary Law of the same year, the statement said, stressing that terrorist conspiracies and plots of evil and sedition have never stopped and will continue as a result of Iran’s blatant interference in Bahrain’s domestic affairs and keenness on exploiting some countries in the region to provide support, training and funding for terrorist groups, as well as to provide platforms for incitement and violence.

The Council of Representatives stressed that Bahrain is a state of law and institutions, and that all its citizens, from all social components, do not accept that a national symbol is targeted, categorically reject loyalty to foreign sides or treason against the nation, and demand to bring to justice whoever found guilty of terrorist acts.

The session was attended by the Chairman of Oman’s Consultative Assembly, Khalid bin Hilal Al-Mawali, who is on a visit to Bahrain out of its keenness on deepening parliamentary relations with Bahrain.
