PA leader Fayyad hopes for recognition
Ramallah - Emtyaz Al Mograbi

PA leader Fayyad hopes for recognition Ramallah - Emtyaz Al Mograbi Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad has expressed his confidence that a new, independent Palestinian mail service will be recognised by countries worldwide, including by those who currently refuse to recognise Palestine as an independent state. Speaking exclusively to Arabstoday, Fayyad said that the new service was first established in 1948, and that the Palestinian Authority [PA] was keen on restoring and developing it following the PA’s foundation in 1994 – “even under the harsh circumstances enforced on us by the Israeli occupation,” he added. Following the UN recognition of Palestine as a non-member observer state last November, the PA decided to issue postage stamps bearing Palestinian insignia. "This is all part of our efforts to build on our latest achievement at the UN General Assembly," Fayyad claimed. The PA leader said he expected Arab countries to recognise Palestine’s mail service, adding that he hoped other world states would join them.
