Maspero is Egypt’s iconic state broadcaster

Maspero is Egypt’s iconic state broadcaster Cairo - Khaled Hassanin Egypt’s Information Minister Salah Abdel-Maksoud has denied rumours suggested workers at the Cairo Maspero building will have their salaries reduced. “I will not prejudice against the financial or professional rights of the workers,” Abdel-Maksoud claimed on Wednesday. Speaking to Nile TV, the minister added that he wanted to reach a just solution to strikes and civil disobedience currently sweeping through Egypt’s iconic state broadcasting centre. However, recent measures had attempted to address “violations” carried out by media unions, Abdel-Maksoud admitted. Maspero workers have resumed demonstrations outside the Maspero building, first commissioned by Egyptian leader Gamal Abdel Nasser, calling for the Information Minister’s resignation.
