Egypt’s Head of Press Syndicate Abdel Mohsen Salama
Cairo - Mina Samy

Egypt’s Head of Press Syndicate Abdel Mohsen Salama expressed his appreciation to the decision taken by the Egyptian government to block what he described as news websites supporting terrorism, saying that such websites harm the country’s national interests. He added that these websites are related to the terrorist actions witnessed in the country during the current period.
He added that the statements of Qatar’s Emir Tamim Bin Hamad revealed the tiny state’s support for terrorism, saying that although they denied these statements, the policies they adopted during the recent period proved their authenticity. He added that the Qatari policies provided clear justification for the vision adopted by Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah Al Sisi toward Qatar.
He added that his syndicate will discuss the issue of the Egyptian websites that have been blocked during the recent period, saying that he could interfere to resolve their problem with the Egyptian authorities as soon as possible.
He added, in an interview with “Arabs Today”, that there are people working to mislead the public opinion, while the role of media is to reveal their lies. He stressed that the media should perform a major role to eliminate the ideas promoted by the extremists and to increase the public awareness over the danger of these ideas.
He praised president’s call, as it came in a critical period of time. He stressed that the different parties should work together to confront the threats posed by the terrorist groups during the current period. He added that the country needs the cooperation of all its citizens with the government to eliminate the danger of terrorism as soon as possible.
He underlined the role of Islamic institution, adding that it should perform its role to counter the extremist ideas. He added that the media’s plan should be based on only one rule which is the terrorism is the major enemy that should be defeated soon not to allow the terrorists control the country.
He praised the presidential decree to form a high council to combat terrorism, saying that the new council should draft a clear vision over the way to confront the extremist ideas not only in the street but also inside the governmental institutions.
