Armed terrorists attacked an airport's radar system in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan province early Sunday and killed an aviation engineer, officials said.
Pakistan Civil Aviation spokesman Pervez George confirmed the attack on the radar system at the Jiwani airport, some 980 kilometers from Quetta, the provincial capital.
Official sources said electronic supervisor Khalidullah was killed in the pre-dawn attack while another officer, Altaf Hussain, was injured. The injured was airlifted for treatment in the port city of Karachi.
The attackers kidnapped the manager of the airport, Mehmoodullah, local officials said.
Aviation authorities said the attack caused some damage to the radar system.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack. The authorities blame anti-government Baloch insurgents for such attacks.
Officials said that the Jiwani airport in Gwadar district has not been functional for few years.
Security forces rushed to the area and started a search operation for the assailants.
