A small plane crashed in southeast Czech Republic on Saturday, killing the pilot.
The small sport plane crashed during an international aerobatics contest in Kromeriz, South Moravia, said regional firefighters' spokesman Libor Netopil, adding the accident caused fire and the Czech pilot died.
Local police spokeswoman Simona Kysnerova said the pilot was a 51-year-old Czech man from central Bohemia.
She said the plane fell at about 11:00 a.m. (0900 GMT) in a private garden near the airfield, some 60 metres far from a house.
Jan Zona, who is the contest organizer, said the plane was flown by an experienced Czech pilot. The contestants performed a compulsory sequence within an aerobatic box, i.e. a cube with its length, width and height being each one kilometre.
This is the first time for the local aviation club to organize the international motor aerobatics contest, which was terminated after the accident.
Czech criminal police and aviation inspectors will investigate the cause and circumstances of the accident.
